Romantic Getaways

San Diego area is one of the most romantic places to spend a weekend or longer in Southern California. One of the best is the Coronado Hotel on Coronado Island. Check out their web site for a two minute video about the history and things to do while there. www.hoteldel.com

Travel Channel has rated it as the number one wedding destination in America. The hotel is on the beach with great views, they have really nice restaurants and spa. Everything is available at the hotel. Many movie stars and Presidents have stayed in the hotel. You won’t have to leave for anything. Coronado Hotel 1500 Orange Avenue Coronado, CA 92118

When you are in San Diego, you might want have a romantic dinner in a sidewalk restaurant. There are many to chose from in the downtown area. 5th Street is where you will find most of them. It=s called the Gaslamp Quarter. The street is one way so start cruising the street from Harbor Drive. That would be across from the Convention Center. www.gaslamp.org

Another great hotel is the Rancho Valencia Resort just North of San Diego. It’s a hotel for lovers. www.ranchovalencia.com Rancho Valencia Resort 5921 Valencia CircleRancho Santa Fe, CA 92067 You can find out everything about the hotel by going to their web site.

Have a tighter budget and would like to stay in San Diego?  There are many great places to stay without going over your budget. San Diego is full of hotels and motels. The closer to the beach the more the money. The Holiday Inn Bayside is one of our favorites.

There’s a bay view with lots of boats and water. It’s at 4875 N. Harbor Drive San Diego, Ca Call direct at 619-2243621 or 800-6628899. The price is right and a very nice place. The photo below is taken from a room in the Holiday Inn.

Island Romance
Have you ever been on an island over night? A great one is Catalina. There’s many things to do and see on the island plus getting there is half the fun. There is a golf course, island tours, glass bottom boats, flying fish boat trips and much more. Lots of hotels and motels dot the island, you can find anything you want on the island by going to www.catalina.com

If you take your towel and sun screen and go to the beach area, you will feel like you’re a million miles away from home. It’s like sitting on the beach in Monte Carlo or Jamaica. The water is so clear and the air is so clean you will want to live there. You can travel anywhere in the world and you can’t find a better place for the price.

Bed and Breakfast
There are many Bed & Breakfast’s in Southern California, some of the great places for Bed & Breakfast’s are close to the beach or the mountains. It’s a good thing to find out if the inn you select has private baths. A lot of the older ones do not as they are a home and they usually have one bath per floor. You can find Bed & Breakfast’s in most cities. Some, give you a complete breakfast with a type of food that complements the area they are in. Like biscuits and gravy in the mountains and country while having every thing from cereal to omelets closer to big cities and the ocean. Check out the one in La Jolla. It is really nice.

Ride the Palm Springs Tram to the top of the Valley!

Palm Springs and the local area..
Ride the Palm Springs Tram two and a half miles up in the worlds largest rotating gondola up to great views, no, make that monumental views. There are two restaurants at the top of the tram. One is a café with great food and the other is a dining experience. You can sit by a window looking over the Coachella Valley. Sometimes the air is so clear you can see past Salton Sea. That’s over fifty miles. You might need to make reservations at the restaurant. They claim that the temperature runs about 30 degrees cooler on the top of the mountain so in the summer when it’s in the high 90’s on the desert floor the top of the mountain runs around 60 or so.
